Ib the anime~~~8th Chapter

((Thank you for giving this script a chance ^_^ Please read the description))

Ib, Garry and Mary started to walk together, mostly, it was Ib and Mary in front now with Garry following them closely.  Ib noticed a painting she was about to read the title when Mary read it out loud “The Force of Quarrel.” Ib nodded to this she looked at the painting seeing what looked like a man and woman arguing, maybe even fighting. Garry looked to Mary and smiled “You can read rather well Mary.” Mary just glanced to him and gave him a nod. She looked back to Ib “I can read all the titles if you want Ib.” Ib shrugged. “I don’t mind reading” She responded. Mary tensed “Oh, you can read them all then if that is what you want.” Garry spoke up now “We’ll all take turns I think. If we have the time that is sometimes it’s a bit too dangerous to take in all the art here.” Mary sighed, she sounded a little annoyed.

Ib started walking again. She looked to the end of one hall and noticed a vase. She started toward it with Mary and Garry in tow. Ib noticed it was full she looked to her rose, all five petals were still there. Garry took his rose out and looked it over all 10 were present. Garry looked to Mary “Say…seeing as Ib and I have roses. Do you have one as well Mary?” Mary perked up “…Yeah, I do! A yellow rose!” She took it out. Ib looked at it, it looked very pretty. But as quickly as Mary brought it out she tucked it away again. Garry smiled “Ah it’s true. “ He patted Ib and Mary’s head “You two keep those safe.” He got serious for a moment wagging his finger at them some “Don’t you dare lose it and don’t give it to anyone and…” Mary was admiring Ib’s rose while Ib was staring up at Garry. Mary interrupted “Wow, Ib’s rose is red! My rose is yellow!”  She sounded rather excited and seemed to be ignoring Garry now giving her full attention to Ib. “I like yellow, but I also like pink!” She smiled wide “Oh and Blue!” Ib rose an eyebrow but nodded “Blue is nice.” Garry huffed looking to Mary “Learn to listen, would you?” He was pretty annoyed.

Ib frowned “We’ll be careful.” She stated then started down the hall again. Mary quickly caught up to her and kept right by her side. Garry crossed his arms and followed. He was a bit annoyed with Mary but he let it go. He figured Mary might just be getting use to seeing people again. It was hard to say how long she had been alone here. As the group made their way up the hall it narrowed forcing them to go single file briefly before finally opening up to a much larger hallway. Garry sighed “That was odd.” Ib noticed a note on the wall. She read it this time “Which one could it be?”  She frowned. Garry rested his chin in his hand “Another puzzle?” Mary looked a little bored. Ib continued on and soon they saw what the note was talking about. There were two doors that looked exactly the same. Mary started to recite eeny meeny miny moe. Ib frowned she looked to the painting nearby. Garry read the title “Flowers of…” Mary spoke up “Jealousy!” Ib looked to her “We need to take turns.” Mary frowned “Oh…right sorry.” She looked worried. Ib looked back at the painting a moment it seemed to be nothing but a patch of dirt. She wondered if it had some meaning.

Ib looked to Garry “We can check the doors at the same time if they both open we can peek in and if it’s dangerous we can close the doors quickly.” Garry frowned “I suppose we can…” Mary raised her hand quickly “I’ll go with Ib!” She latched onto Ib’s arm. Ib shrugged to Garry and started for the door on the left. Garry sighed. He didn’t really like this idea but he seemed to have been out voted. He walked to the door on the right. Garry turned the knob finding it locked. “This one is locked!” he called then started back. Ib found her door opened she was trying to open it slowly when Mary pushed the door open the rest of the way “Look Ib!” she pulled her inside. Garry saw this and hurried to catch up “Careful girls!” he got in and looked rather frightened.

Ib looked around a small smile on her face. “Wow….” She spoke softly Mary smiled happily at Ib “I know. Aren’t they cute!?” The room was lined with rows of cuddly pastel bunnies with a large bunny painting in the center of the room. Mary spun in place “They are so adorable!” Ib walked with Garry over to the painting as Mary went to grab one of the bunnies for her and Ib. Ib read the title “Red eyes.” She stared up at the painting still with the small smile. Garry looked to her and Mary rather shocked. He seemed rather shaken up “…the love of…” he sighed “This painting. This room…Why must it be so unsettling?!”  Ib looked to him a bit confused. Mary walked over with two of the bunnies “Huh? Really? I think it’s cute…”

Garry shook his head “What?” He looked around “What about this is cute!?” Mary pouted “I just think it is.” She looked to Ib now. “What about Ib?” Mary held out a bunny to Ib. Ib looked to her then to the bunny. She wanted to pet it but with Garry acting the way he was she figured it was best she didn’t. She wondered though if Garry had a fear of bunnies. She looked to Mary “It’s cute.” Mary smiled “I know right? It’s so adorable. She held out the bunny again. Ib shook her head trying to decline as politely as possible.  Mary frowned. Garry sighed “Enough of this…let’s just check out the room and leave.” Garry rubbed the back of his head nervously “I feel like I am being watched in this room…” He shook his head “Talk about unsettling…”

Everyone split up. Mary played with the bunnies mostly while Ib began to walk down the right side of the room looking over the rows of bunnies. Garry went to the left. He noticed a book and pulled it out. “Ruin of the Heart…” he ready softly to himself. “If your spirit suffers too much, you will start to hallucinate…” Garry tensed “..and in the end you will be destroyed.” Garry glanced at Ib for a moment then back at the book “and more worrying yet, you will not even be conscience of that fact.” Garry stared at the book. He worried now “Is this what is happening to Ib?” He thought to himself. He looked to Mary “Is this what has already happened to her?” Garry shook his head “Ib said she had a nightmare…seeing that painting of her parents and all she had gone through. She has suffered so much.” Before Garry could think on this further he heard a smash. Ib was near one of the bunnies that had shattered on the floor. She looked a bit worried. She had tried to pet it but knocked it over instead. Garry and Mary hurried over. Garry frowned taking Ib’s hands in his “Are you ok?” Mary looked a bit annoyed. “Look a key!” She picked it up. She smiled at Ib “You found the key to the locked door.”

Ib looked at it “It’s the same color as the hallway and the door here.” Garry carefully let go of Ib’s hands “Yeah it must be for there. Good job Ib. But next time try to be more careful.” He smiled at her “I’m glad you are ok though.” Ib nodded. Mary spoke up “I’m glad you are ok to.” She sat the bunny she was holding aside and hugged Ib “I was worried.” Garry sighed “Well let’s go.” He handed the key to Ib. Ib hugged Mary back a moment then put the key in her pocket and started out with them both. As they left the room and started to pass the jealousy painting they had seen earlier all three of them heard a strange loud noise. Ib stood in the center staring at the painting “….It’s alive.” Mary stopped just to the right of Ib and Garry stopped to the left of her. The sound suddenly got louder the painting seemed to change. Mary spoke “Huh?....that sound’s getting closer.”

Suddenly a large flower burst from the canvas cracking the wall around it. The flower was a dark crimson red. Ib froze rather shocked. Garry gasped. Vines shot up behind Ib now. All three spun to face it the ground was shaking as the vines continued to shoot up through the floor. Mary called out “Something came up from the ground!” Garry tensed “T-This is bad get away from the painting!” The vines got closer to Ib. Mary cried out grabbing Ib’s arm “Ib! Watch out!” She pulled Ib out of the way and to the right. Garry jumped back to the left.  Garry hurried toward the vines peering through the gaps he could faintly make out Ib and Mary “Are you two alright?!” Ib stared at the vines. Mary shook her head “Ah! That scared me!” She partially covered her mouth with her hands. Garry called out again “Ib? Are you hurt?” Ib finally spoke “No…I’m fine.”

Garry sighed “G….good.” Ib spoke again “Are you hurt?” Garry shook his head “I’m fine, don’t worry.” He sighed “But with these things in the way I can’t get over there.” Garry looked the vines over “Maybe I can cut them down….”  He carefully reached his hand out touching a part that was not covered in thorns “…but…what’s this?” He felt the sensation of cold stone again his hand “They are made of stone!” Ib frowned she knocked on one and was surprised to see that they were in fact made of stone. Garry shook his head “What to do…” He lamented. Mary tugged on Ib’s sleeve “Hey…Ib.” Ib looked to her “You got the key from that room right?” Ib nodded “Maybe there is something in the next room that can get rid of these.” She smiled. “Should we go look?” Ib took out the key and looked to it then looked through the vines at Garry. Garry frowned crossing his arms “Hmm…well…I wonder if you’ll be ok…” Mary spoke up a bit loudly “We’ll be fine! Right Ib?” She looked a bit excited. Ib looked to them both. Then focused on Garry.

“I rather not split up….but you need help. We’ll be ok. Mary will be with me.” Ib stated. Mary smiled “See Ib said we’ll be fine.” Garry sighed “I guess it is worth a try.” He tried to get a better look at Ib. Their eyes met through the gaps “But if you don’t find anything make sure you come straight back, ok?” Ib nodded “Then we’ll rethink what we can do.” Garry stated. Mary pulled on Ib’s arm a little “Yeah got it!” She smiled “Let’s go Ib.” Ib got pulled along. She finally started walking on her own. Mary had her arm linked with Ib’s. Ib unlocked the door and started through. Garry stayed by the vines and sighed. “….Stay safe..”

Ib and Mary were greeted with what appeared to be a storage room. Boxes lined the walls and there were 3 headless mannequins in here. Ib tensed but Mary smiled “Don’t worry they aren’t going to move.” Ib frowned but trusted her words. Mary laughed “Looks like they would break if you hit it.” She pushed on one and huffed “They are too heavy to move though” Ib nodded and began to look around in some of the boxes. Ib paused looking at stool near an odd canvas. She felt like someone was here. Mary spoke up “I’d like to take this stool but it looks like it is stuck to the ground.” Ib looked to her then back at the stool. She pressed against it with her shoe and found it wouldn’t budge. She gave a nod to Mary then went back to searching. Ib opened a box finding it full of all sorts of painting tools. “Is there anything useful in here?” Mary said as she looked over Ib’s shoulder. Ib shrugged. Mary and Ib dug around inside until Mary suddenly pulled out a palette knife. “Look at this. Do you think it could cut those vines?” Ib shook her head “It’s not strong enough to cut stone.” Mary pressed the point of the palette knife against her finger. She rotated it around “You’re right….yeah it wouldn’t work.” She tucked it into the pocket of her dress “But I think I’ll hold onto it just in case.” Ib shrugged. It wasn’t a terrible idea but she wasn’t sure how it could really help either. They searched a few more boxes before Mary sighed “I don’t really see anything useful. Should we just go back to Garry now?” Ib nodded but as she took a step the light in the room began to flicker.

Ib stopped dead and tensed. Mary held Ib’s hand tight. “Wah! Huh?” Mary cried out. Ib moved Mary closer to her. Ib had gotten use to the fickle lights in this place. Mary stayed very close to Ib “That scared me.” Ib frowned “We’ll be ok, it was just the lights.” Mary smiled now. They rounded a pile of boxes and were about to head back when they saw the headless mannequin that had been close to the door was now blocking the way back to Garry. Mary frowned “Huh…the exit.” She looked to Ib worriedly “W-when did that move? Wasn’t it against the wall?” Ib frowned “….When the lights went out it must’ve moved then.” Mary shook her head “Move it Ib!” Ib looked to Mary then slowly started toward the mannequin “I’ll need help.” Mary cautiously followed. Ib put her hands against the mannequin Mary did as well. “Ready? Heave!” Mary commanded. They both pushed as hard as they could but eventually stopped and caught their breath. Mary shook her head “No good…it won’t even budge.”

Ib looked up at the mannequin and frowned “Garry made this look much easier.” Mary grabbed Ib’s hand again and held it tight “What do we do Ib? We can’t get out…” Her eyes teared up. Ib gave Mary’s hand a small squeeze. She looked back at a door that was on the other side of the room “….We’ll have to go forward…maybe there is another way back there. Or something we can use to move the mannequin.” Ib didn’t want to leave Garry behind but right now they couldn’t even tell him what happened. She could only hope there was a way back or maybe even someone else they could find to help them move the statue.  Mary frowned “I guess there is no other way.” Ib nodded sadly and started toward the door.

When Ib and Mary walked through they found themselves in another hallway though it seemed rather long and with lots of corners and stairs. Everything here seemed to be brown as well. Ib started up the stairs toward some windows. As she walked past them with Mary a figure seemed to walk by. At that moment the lights began to dim and grow bright again, it sounded like something was falling down the stairs nearby. Mary was holding Ib’s hand tight. Ib continued forward hoping that the noise was just a noise and nothing else. “It’ll be ok” She told Mary. But as they passed the second window the figure suddenly pounded on the glass. Ib tensed Mary cried out and held onto Ib. Ib sighed “It’s ok…I don’t think it can get through.” Mary whined a little.

Ib sighed and continued on again, she went down some steps and saw what looked like a red ball fall down the stairs then splat against the wall. Ib frowned “…A ball of paint?” Mary shrugged “Looks like it.” Ib shook her head and started to ascend the stairs the way the ball of paint seemed to have come from. When Ib and Mary reached the top of the stairs Ib noticed a painting. Mary smiled “You read the title Ib.” Ib frowned “Clown.” She looked up at the white canvas colored only with two large eyes one with a star below it and another with a tear below it. The typical big red nose seemed to be missing. Ib glanced back down the stairs. She wondered if that was where the red ball of paint had come from. Mary tugged on Ib “Come on, it’s scary here.” Ib stayed a moment longer but finally started to follow. As they started walking to a nearby door three loud sounds rang out.

It sounded like someone threw paint against the wall. Three messages written in yellow appeared. Ib tensed. Mary smiled “It’s my turn to read.” She looked at the messages “I want you to have fun, Ib.” She read the next one “Come to a fun world without any adults.”  She read the last one now. “We’ll be together.” She smiled at Ib now “They sound nice.” Ib shook her head “I don’t want to stay here. I want to find my parents and Garry and go home.” She started to walk to the nearby door. Mary frowned and followed she caught Ib’s hand again. A last message finally splattered onto the wall. Ib glanced back at it able to read it from where she was standing “You, me, and our friends.” Ib sighed “I don’t want to be friends with a painting…” She entered the door now. Mary was gripping Ib’s hand rather tight, she looked a little sorrowful.

Ib frowned as they entered the room. There were several ropes hanging from the ceiling, a strange painting with eyes, a large gap in the floor, a box and a strange blue and black statue on the other side of the gap. Ib approached the gap and shook her head “I can’t tell where it goes…and it’s too far to jump.” She shook her head “I’m not sure how we are going to cross.” Mary looked to Ib. “Maybe there is something here we can use.” Ib gave a nod and they both started to look around. Mary spoke “I wonder what Garry’s doing.  We kind of left him behind.” Ib frowned “We will find him again soon…”

Meanwhile Garry was leaned against the wall sitting on the floor. His visible eye was closed he slowly opened it and glanced to the tangle of stone vines. He sighed “They’re taking their time.” He frowned “I wonder if something happened.” He had heard a loud moment earlier he swore it had come from the room Ib and Mary had went. Garry sighed and got to his feet “Ib! Mary! Can you hear me!?” Garry strained to hear any reply but there was just silence. He sighed “No good…” He shook his head getting a little angry with himself “I knew I shouldn’t have let them go alone!” He lowered his head a little “What to do?” Garry turned around. He glanced toward the room they had entered earlier.

“I suppose I could investigate that room again. We didn’t get to much time to look around.” He shuddered at the thought though. “…As much as I hate to go back in there.” Garry slowly approached the room again. He slowly gripped the door knob in his hand and turned it. He reentered the room and put his back against the door. What once appeared to have been bunnies now appeared to be scary blue dolls with big red eyes, stitched crooked smiles and scraggily hair. Garry frowned he approached the large painting in the room “Ugh…no matter how I look at it. It isn’t cute.” He shook his head recalling Mary and Ib’s reactions to the toys. He was glad Ib didn’t want to hold any and part of him felt she only called them cute to make Mary happy. “That kid…” He sighed. He glanced to the ceiling where several of the horrible red eye dolls were suspended around the neck by red rope. “I don’t think there is anything worth seeing up there.”

Garry walked around looking over the disturbing dolls but couldn’t find anything. He got near one of the small bookcases on the right side of the room. “Nothing of note here…” He sighed and leaned against it. The bookcase budged and Garry felt a cold breeze around his ankles. “Woah…what this?” He saw a hole in the wall and pushed the bookcase out of the way “Why didn’t I notice this earlier!?” He ducked down looking through the hole. “…I’ll follow this just for a little while then come back…I have to make sure Ib doesn’t think something took me.” He crawled through and found himself in another dark purple room. There appeared to be another room in front of him. On the wall near the door was a message. Garry approached it and read. “There is no exit. There is no reason.”  He frowned. “This must be some trick.” He huffed. He moved away from the wall and tried the door but found it was locked. “No good…” He looked around a little wanting to explore the rest of the room a little before he returned back to the vines. He noticed a strange indent on the floor then nearby several ropes against the wall. “How odd…” Garry followed the ropes with his eyes. He glanced up and saw an opening in the ceiling high above him. He could hear voices it sounded like Ib and Mary. “Is that them?”

Garry looked to the ropes “Maybe I can get their attention with one of these.” He tugged one and found the room suddenly going pitch black. Garry tensed “You must be kidding me?! This switches off the power!” He quickly tugged it again. The lights came back on. Garry sighed “Thank goodness. I thought it wouldn’t come back on.” He shook his head and tried another rope. A red eyed doll fell from the ceiling and slapped against the ground nearby. Garry jumped and clutched his chest “Enough of this!” he groaned and tugged another. Nothing appeared to happen. He closed his eyes trying to hear Ib and Mary.

Up above Mary saw the blinking painting lowering “Ib look we can get across!” Ib turned and saw the painting slide into place over the gap. She approached the painting “How did it get down?” She glanced to the rope. Down below she could hear a voice calling their names. “Do you hear that?” Ib looked to Mary. She shook her head. Ib got on her knees and looked down into the gap she turned her head to listen. Garry could see something else blocking the light from above. “IB MARY IT’S ME! IT’S GARRY!” He called out. Ib looked to Mary. “Garry is down there. He must’ve found a way out from behind the vines.” Mary frowned “Are you sure it is him?” Ib just nodded. She tried to yell back but her voice was to quiet. “Garry are you ok?” Garry frowned “WHAT?!” He called back. Mary looked to Ib “Let me yell. I’m good at getting really loud.” She smiled. She kneeled down and called out “WE’RE HERE!”

Garry tensed hearing Mary. “THERE IS A DOOR DOWN HERE BUT IT’S LOCKED!” He remembered the indent in the ground. He took in a breath and yelled again “IS THERE ANYTHING UP THERE WITH A PYRAMID SHAPE…IT…IT’S LIKE A TRIANGLE!” Ib looked around she remembered the strange blue and black statue. “There we can push that down to him.” Ib stated. Mary nodded “WE FOUND SOMETHING!” Mary was about to cross the painting when Ib stopped her “Careful.” She looked to the blinking painting. She remembered that sometimes being nice seemed to help. “Is it ok to cross?” She asked. The eyes watched them both for a moment then closed. Mary smiled “Guess so!” She hurried across. Ib tensed and carefully crossed after her. “Thank you.” She said to the painting. Mary pushed on the strange blue and black statue. “Come on Ib I need help.”

Ib hurried over to help. She pushed but right as they got to the gap she remembered they forgot to warn Garry what they were doing. “Mary wait.” She tried to stop but the statue plummeted down. Mary called out now “LOOK OUT!” Garry thought he saw something appear in the light above him again he saw it was getting closer and quickly ran out of the way. The statue crashed hard into the floor but didn’t break. He caught his breath. “THANKS!” he yelled back up at them then shook his head. Ib frowned and looked to Mary “Ask if he is ok…please.” Mary sighed she yelled again “IB WANTS TO KNOW IF YOU ARE OK!” Garry called back up “I’M FINE. I’M GOING TO SEE WHERE THIS LEADS TO.” He took in another breath. “YOU BOTH BE CAREFUL TRY NOT TO GO TO FAR AHEAD FROM WHERE YOU ARE!” Mary called back “OK!” She took Ib’s hand now and started to lead her out of the room. Ib frowned “We might need to come back here.” Mary nodded “Yeah but we might also find him first if we keep going. Besides it shouldn’t be too much further if we already are in the same area here.”

Ib gave a slow nod and walked with Mary out of the room. Garry sighed and started to push the statue from where it was at toward the indent into the ground. “I really hope they will be ok alone…” He shook his head and focused on the task at hand. Mary and Ib found themselves in a very long narrow hallway. Ib took the lead now. “Try to stay in the center” she warned. Mary nodded. As they walked Ib looked up at the troches lighting their way. It was all brown here still but the pattern on the floor was pretty. They rounded a corner and continued on. Mary spoke up “Umm Ib…” Her grip tightened on Ib’s hand. “Can I ask you something?” Ib gave a nod. Mary continued “Is Garry…your Dad?” Ib shook her head “Nope.” Mary nodded “Hmm…so your Dad is someone else…I see.” She was silent for a bit again but spoke up once more “Is your Mom nice Ib?” Ib was silent a moment, even though her Mom could get angry at times she knew she was usually very nice. Ib nodded “Yes.” Mary smiled “That’s good.”

Mary smiled more “You want to see your parents again soon right?” Ib nodded. Mary looked up at the torches “I want to get out soon too…”  Ib glanced back at Mary. “We’ll get out.” She gave Mary a faint smile. Mary smiled back. She was silent for a bit again before speaking up once more “Hey Ib….uh…if only two of us could get out of here…then what?” Ib stopped walking. She hadn’t thought of that. “If it could only be two…” Ib stated. She thought on this a bit more. She gripped Mary’s hand a little. She thought of Garry and his kindness toward her after her nightmare, she thought of Mary being scared of being alone. “If it could only be two…I’d sacrifice myself.” Ib stated. She didn’t have it in her to leave either of them behind. Mary’s eyes widened “Really?...that is really nice of you Ib.” Mary was silent a moment then spoke “…But you don’t have to worry. It was just a ‘what if’ question and all.” Ib looked back and Mary and gave her a faint smile. “I know.” She wanted to be strong for Mary right now. If Garry could be strong for Ib then Ib had to try for Mary as well. “We’ll get out of here, all of us together.” Ib simply said then started to walk again. She felt Mary give her hand a small squeeze. Ib meant it, she wanted them to all escape this place.
^_^ Hey everyone. ^_^;;;; I know this is long overdue. Sorry again for such a large delay. Things have been very busy for me with some health issues and work stuff coming up. I will try to another chapter or two done before the end of this month so look forward to that.  Anyways those seeing this in my profile this is the 8th "chapter" of a script I'm trying to write for a fan anime for the stupendous horror rpg game Ib. Here is a link to the group :iconib-theanime:

We finally get to see much more of Mary and the infamous question. If only two could escape who would Ib pick? Anyways next chapter will feature a lot of back and forth between Garry and Ib. I decided to make it so they are aware that they are split up so it doesn't seem like a bunch of strange coincidences allow them to solve the puzzles. ^_^ Hope you enjoyed this chapter.

It took a couple days of reading, but I finally got caught up with it. I just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying reading this; your interpretation of the game is awesome. I also like how you're incorporating jokes that a lot of fans of the game will get (like the spider in Garry's hair. :XD:)

Keep up the good work! :la:

(Mary is such a fun character. Tis a shame what happens later on though....)
